sew & tell v3.28 - finding some motivation

Sometimes I get bogged down with such a big to-do list that I don't do anything.  I sit around eating ice cream and watching bad TV instead of diving in.  Anyone know what I'm talking about?

*crickets*

That's part of what is so good about sew & tell.  It gives me a deadline.  So I finished up a quick and easy minky baby blanket for a long overdue baby gift. I love how this one turned out.  And I've made so many of them at this point, they are a fast and easy satisfying project

I think that doing something quick and easy really is the key to finding motivation.  It's nice to feel a sense of accomplishment and makes me want to sew more!

So I finished up my iPad sleeve that I started during spring break.  I love it!

I used the wonderful tutorial over at One Shabby Chick.  Super easy and fast!

Now at least when I feel super conspicuous pulling out my iPad to take a photo for Instagram, at least it's got some pretty flowers on it!

What have you been finishing up this week?

Your turn to share ~ Show us what you've got finished!
Linky Rules.  Please follow along for a fun party!

1. Please write the post for sew & tell - or add a blurb mentioning sew & tell to a post written since the last sew & tell.  If you are linking to a post with your own tutorial, please make sure it was a finish from this week and that the completed project is shown first.
2. One linky per person. (please put multiple projects in one post.)
3. Link to your specific post.  (See here for permalink instructions - or email me.)
4. Link back here with a link or a button (HTML on my sidebar).
5. Be sure to visit and leave comments on other's posts!

Please put your (blog)name instead of your project name, it helps us get to know each other better!

I definitely need these "deadlines" to get motivated. Your iPad cover is beautiful! Happy quilting: )

My ice cream spoon clattered to the floor as I grimaced and scanned the room, wondering where the spy cam was concealed... Crickets, nothin'!

I totally, TOTALLY know what you mean about feeling so overwhelmed by all that needs to be done, that you end up paralyzed and unable to do anything but veg and eat ice cream. For breakfast. I'm in the same funk right now. My walking foot "straight" quilting (snort!) didn't come out as nicely as I'd hoped, and my first attempt at free motion quilting was DISASTROUS, and I've been working on this quilt since October, SO much quilting still needs to be done, and I have a friend whose baby is due next month who asked for a quilt and I can't even START hers until I finish this one that I promised for my own son... Damn; I'm out of ice cream!!! Now I can't sew because I have to go to the store.

Glad I'm not the only one. I think maybe I should try your remedy, and set aside the Big, Bad Quilt to whip up something small and satisfying so I can get my mojo back! I also signed up for a machine quilting class in a couple of weeks to get some pointers, so maybe I'll start cutting out and piecing the baby quilt in the meantime?

Have a great day!

Ha! You described me to a T! Except that I play on my iPad instead of watching TV. ;) If you ever find a good source for motivation, please share!! ;)

Thanks for your Sew & Tell Fridays! It is definitely a good motivation for me. And now I'd better get off this computer and get my project finished so I can link up, too! :)

I definitely get the same way. Lots of pressure and I end up with nothing.... Oh well.

Very cute blanket and I love the iPad case! I've been meaning to make one and this might just give me the little push I need.

I'm sad to admit I know exactly what you are talking about! Those are two great ideas for small projects - I'll have to keep those in mind for those days. Thanks again for hosting.

I don't know that it's lack of inspiration that keeps me away so much as the utter mess of my whole sewing space!

I am right there with you. I have had obligations on Fridays, but I am really hoping to get back to some sew & tell. Love the pink mini with that black & white!

I love the black and white with pink. Been wanting to try that color scheme. Recently, I bought a bunch of black and white fabric, along with a bunch of black and white and PINK fabric ... I'm a little intimidated by the black and white, though, because I prewashed it due to the intense colors ... and went thru THREE color catchers that were still "catching" a lot of gray ... any suggestions before I start sewing?
